iPad for toddlers

I just saw this on TV as toddlers were playing with the iPad as a learning tool. The debate is whether they are learning from the iPad or matching shapes. The research is still not there to really tell if toddlers using technology will help them later on in life.

Groups ask FCC why AT&T has a cap for DSL

Public Knowledge and the New America Foundation's Open Technology Initiative asked the FCC in a letter Friday why AT&T has cap and is it justified.

The AT&T broadband caps are "particularly aggressive," said the letter, signed by Harold Feld, legal director at Public Knowledge, and Sascha Meinrath, director of the Open Technology Initiative.

AT&T motives appear to be for profit and not the improvement of service to consumers.

Earthlink has no cap and is unlimited internet - Take that AT&T

While looking at the 150GB AT&T cap I went browsing for alternatives. Like many I found very few options. Comcast has a more reasonable 250 cap but to get the introductory price I would have to upgrade my basic cable to digital starter which would up my costs.

Then I found Earthlink which pretty costs the same as AT&T without the cap. They give 3 months at a reduced rate then charges me $34.95 for 3mbps. If I want a higher speed I can pay $5 more and get the 6mbps for $39.95. The first 3 months will cost either $14.95 or $19.95. The slowest 1.5Mbps will cost First 3 Months $14.95; $29.95/mo. thereafter.

Wheego All Electric Car needs funding

Wheego is having some setbacks with their Electric Car funds.

"My constraint is primarily capital. We'll be living hand-to-mouth as we try to get the first cars built. The next 200 will creep out as we raise money."

LiFe electric car will need a VC firm in Connecticut to come thru for them or else they may run out of time.

Amazon trade in Review

So I have been testing Amazon's trade in program. This is run by a third party and not Amazon.

Movies and Games - Price fluctuates so you should check back and see the price. I have seen Blu-Ray's go up and down from $1-$2 in value throughout the week. The price is also influence what a brand new one would go for.

Books - Unless the book is in like new condition don't bother. I have had two books returned for bs reasons. You have to have exact matching ISBN. And sometimes they claim books are damaged when they are not.

AT&T DSL Cap starts Monday - AT&T still number 1 in disappointing customers

When AT&T bought the phone/dsl provider that I was using I received two bills. I inquired by phone that I need to signup to the new AT&T. And since then I have felt betrayed by AT&T poor service. AT&T charges me $120-$130 a month for DSL and home phone. With that money I get slow DSL service and expensive phone service. And now my DSL is capped to 150GB. And the reason why is not 2% hogging bandwidth which is what AT&T says. Instead I believe it's to make people signup for their more expensive U-Verse service. AT&T is really selling it in my area as two 20 somethings were going door to door trying to sell the service. When I said no the guy said "I guess you don't want to save money." Of course the salesman never mentions that the bundle package is only for 12months then the bill skyrockets.
